Mackinac Island is nestled in the straits of Mackinac where the upper
and lower peninsulas of Michigan meet.
St. Ignace was founded by Jesuit missionaries in 1671, has a rich Native American history and is located in the upper peninsula of Michigan at the north end of the Mackinac Bridge.
